Abstract


By the grace of Allah, it is a great pleasure to introduce this issue of:

The International Journal on Islamic Applications in Computer Science and Technology

The success and the welcome of this Journal by researchers from many countries, gave us great encouragement for continuing issuing in the due time.

This Journal is aimed at publishing original research papers in the field of Islamic Applications in computer science and technology. This field is catching a momentum in the recent years. As a Journal interested in this field, it is the first International Journal of its specific field. As research is growing in this field, we hope that this Journal will be a platform for researchers working in the field to publish their research.

This issue contains three papers. The first one is entitled: Study to Build a Holy Quran Text-To-Speech System. The paper describes the database building process, because of its importance, especially in concatenative speech synthesis methods. Secondly, a Grapheme to Phoneme Transcription (GPT) module will be presented. This latter was developed by elaborating a set of Tajweed and Arabic reading rules. They were also organized in a new way to gain some computational time. Those developed modules are evaluated by verifying the correct transcription and the database's comprehensiveness, which gives satisfactory results. 

The second paper is entitled: Smart Home Apps Design for Users with Physical Disabilities. This project has identified several requirements and designed a suitable mobile apps to help users with physical disabilities. An Android prototype of this apps was developed together with Arduino node MCU ESP8266 hardware device which is equipped with Wi-Fi. The prototyping model is used as the methodology and the prototype has been tested with a group of randomly selected users. The users’ feedback was obtained which indicate the pros and cons of the prototype. Overall users were satisfied with the design and functions of the mobile apps.

The third paper is entitled: Autism Content Management Learning System for Children with Autism. This paper proposes Autism Content Management Learning System (ACMLS) Framework to assist caregivers to produce, design and fine-tune or customize the learning materials appropriately so that the system interface and the materials are suitable for every individual in the spectrum according to each child personal profile aiming to make learning attractive and to contribute in improving their social, communication and behavioral skills and nonetheless, their attention level to the delivered educational topics.
