Abstract
By the grace of Allah, it is a great pleasure to introduce this issue of The International Journal on Islamic Applications in Computer Science and Technology
The success and the welcome of this Journal by researchers from many countries, gave us great encouragement for continuing issuing in the due time.
This Journal is aimed at publishing original research papers in the field of Islamic Applications in computer science and technology. This field is catching a momentum in the recent years. As a Journal interested in this field, it is the first International Journal of its specific field. As research is growing in this field, we hope that this Journal will be a platform for researchers working in the field to publish their research.
This issue contains three papers. The first one is entitled: The Arabic–English Parallel Corpus of Authentic Hadith. A bilingual parallel corpus of Islamic Hadith is introduced, which is the set of narratives reporting different aspects of the Prophet Muhammad's life. The Hadith collection is extracted from the six canonical Hadith books which possess unique linguistic features and patterns that are automatically extracted and annotated using a domain-specific tool for Hadith segmentation. In this article, the methodology of creating the corpus of 39,038 annotated Hadiths is presented which will be freely available for the research community.
The second paper is entitled: Classification of Holy Quran Verses based on Imbalanced Learning. Imbalanced Learning (IL) is considered as a special case of text classification. It is applied in order to classify Imbalanced classes that are not equal in the number of samples. There are many researches on classified Quranic text which depends on different methods of classification. However, there is no study that classifies the Quranic topics based on Imbalanced Leaning. So, this paper aims to apply the concept of IL to assign corresponding topics for the Quranic verses according to their contents. In this paper, two Quranic datasets have been classified by using Imbalanced Learning consecutively; the first dataset is Unification of God “Tawheed” and Polytheism of God “Shirk” verses, the second dataset is Meccan, and Medinan chapters. Imbalanced Classification is applied here since these topics have imbalanced classes which cannot be classified correctly by traditional methods. The results shows that applying Imbalanced Classification produces better outcomes than the results that are executed without using Imbalanced Classification techniques.
The third paper is entitled: Evaluation of The Causes of Unclaimed, Late Claimed, and Delayed Distribution of Muslim Estate using Documentary and Pearson Correlation Analysis. A great number of RM 60 billion estate have been classified as unclaimed estate with majority of them owned by more than 500, 000 beneficiaries of Muslims in Malaysia. These accumulations are coming from the undivided share of inherited property, Employees Provident Funds, Lembaga Tabung Haji, Permodalan Nasional Berhad, takaful or insurance companies, and banks. This underlines, the importance of ascertaining the main and right causes of unclaimed, late claimed, and delayed distribution of estate based on documentary and statistical analysis. Hence, this paper presents the combination methods of data analysis through the documentary and Pearson Correlation analysis. Analysis and evaluation of all these causes may result into a suggestion for an effective triggering mechanism for the administration of estates of deceased Muslims.
