Abstract
By the grace of Allah, it is a great pleasure to introduce this issue of: The International Journal on Islamic Applications in Computer Science and Technology
The success and the welcome of this Journal by researchers from many countries, gave us great encouragement for continuing issuing in the due time.
This Journal is aimed at publishing original research papers in the field of Islamic Applications in computer science and technology. This field is catching a momentum in the recent years. As a Journal interested in this field, it is the first International Journal of its specific field. As research is growing in this field, we hope that this Journal will be a platform for researchers working in the field to publish their research.
This issue contains two papers. The first one is entitled: Mental Health Mobile Apps Review: Islamic Design and Content Features in Digital Therapeutics. Literatures indicate the understanding of the Islamic design and content for features for DTx are scarce; therefore, this paper aims to report a review of mobile applications to identify design and Content features for establishing understanding DTx from Islamic point of view. In this paper Selected mental health mobile applications have been selected, reviewed and analysed. The findings shows Islamic design and Content features can be identified and recognised. It is speculated the Islamic design and content features are potential to alleviate some suffering of mental health and to sustain well-being in digital living.
The second paper is entitled: Scalability, Availability, Reproducibility and Extensibility in Islamic Database Systems. With the widespread of software systems and applications that serve the Islamic knowledge domain, several concerns arise. Authenticity and accuracy of the databases that back up these systems are questionable. With the excitement that some software developers and amateur researchers may have, false statements and incorrect claims may be made around numerical signs or miracles in the Quran. Reproducibility of these claims may not be addressed by the people making such claims. Moreover, with the increase in the number of users, scalability and availability of these systems become a concern. In addition to all these concerns, extensibility is also another major issue. Properly designed systems can be extensible, reusable and built on top of one another, instead of each system being built from scratch every time a new framework is developed. In this paper, the QuranResearch.Org system and its vision for scalability, availability, reproducibility and extensibility is introduced to serve Islamic database systems.
