MODELING FOR MANUFACTURING SYSTEM USING DIGITAL FACTORY CONCEPT

Abstract

Manufacturing system consist of several manufacturing cell that is group together to produce same procedure product there are several types of manufacturing systems such as flexible manufacturing system and reconfigurable manufacturing systems. A Flexible Manufacturing System is system that using computer controlled and consists the combination of numerically controlled machine tools and automated material handling devices. Due to the globalization, many new technologies and method introduced to increase the productivity of a company or factory and reduce the cost of production.This will help to reduce problems regarding inconsistent process time and unbalance cycle time of the production that applying old methods. The conventional method make it hard for the workers to detect failure in early stage of production, thus it will affect the process flow of production. Simulation method one of the alternative to improve the productivity of company. It can examine the production line by using some algorithm and information computer technology. The new model resemble of the real world model can be created using 3 D simulation. Delmia Quest Software is the most preferable software to be used by the manufacturer to investigate the performance of their factory’s production line.
