Abstract


Business Intelligence (BI) is an emerging key enabler for increasing organizational performance and adding value. Business intelligence is currently becoming a top-priority for many organizations as part of their strategic initiatives. This platform of technologies, applications, and processes used for gathering, storing, accessing, and analyzing data is shifting into a more interactive platform referred to as Business Intelligence (BI) 2.0. Web 2.0 applications such as social networking sites are leveraging the traditional business intelligence into a more pro-active, event-driven, real-time service. No doubt the evolution of the Web and it user-generated content has opened up a new generation of business intelligence along with its emerging technologies that will cause a responsive shift amongst organizations and the way of making decisions. This paper outlines the Web 2.0 tools and introduces a new perspective in business intelligence reflecting future innovations in data analysis, integration, and decision making. Despite the progress witnessed in the business intelligence platforms, there are still many opportunities for further academic research that would enhance organizations performance and competitive intelligence
