Centrelink queues line the streets of Australia's major cities as tens of thousands lose their jobs amid the coronavirus pandemic, but some are turning the unprecedented chaos into lucrative business opportunities.

Unemployed creatives with time on their hands are offering to shop for groceries on your behalf, delivering items and even organising your pantry for a small fee.

People are also turning a profit by selling now-relevant items like food vacuum pack machines, home medical monitors and toilet paper - Australia's scarcest commodity since the crisis began - on eBay and Gumtree.

BATHROOM AND BIDET INSTALLATION

As the world becomes militarily vigilant about hygiene, some Australians are hiring plumbers to install new bathrooms complete with top of the range fixtures.

Demand for bidets, low, oval shaped basins originating from France which spout water onto the genitals to enhance cleansing, is surging.

One Adelaide plumber is touting his bidet installation business on Gumtree, encouraging residents of the South Australian capital to invest in one in case toilet paper supply dries up.

'Be smarter than the rest. Unlimited toilet paper alternative. Coronavirus virus winner. Home delivery,' the ad reads.
