My father worked for Inland Steel as an engineer in Wheelwright. All my relatives lived in Wheelwright Floyd, Paintsville, Prestonsburg, I loved the MM theater, and the pool, my mom worked in the soda fountain. Before that we lived on 15th St, just a few blocks from Ewert and the nearby Boys Club. When a country faces adversity like the United States did on September 11th, 2001, the people go through various stages of feelings. A team that had never played in a Super Bowl or really ever had a successful track record of winning overcame all odds and lifted a city to the highest peak of enjoyment in the sports world. The Boston Red Sox finally reversed the 86 year curse that same year, after coming back from three games down against the New York Yankees, to go on and sweep the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series. Skateboarding, snowboarding and many of the X-Game sports now feature many 14, 15, & 16 year old professionals.
