Pohon yang eksotis, selalu hijau, dan kokoh dengan daun-daun merah jingga yang memikat.
Sebuah pohon yang sangat umum yang sering terlihat ditanam di sepanjang jalan umum dan jalur median di negara kita tercinta, Malaysia.
Kami senang melihat pohon-pohon indah dengan daun musim gugur yang tidak akan terlihat di Malaysia tropis.
Profil Tanaman, Kultur dan Perbanyakan :
Nama Botani: Syzygium myrtifolium (syn.: Syzygium paniculatum, Syzygium campanulatum, Eugenia oleina, Eugenia myrtifolia).
Nama Umum: Bibir Merah, Kayu Manis Liar, Ceri Kuas Australia, Kelat Paya / Minyak dalam Bahasa Melayu.
Nama keluarga: Myrtaceae.
Etimologi: Genus Syzygium berasal dari kata Yunani syzygios, mengacu pada daun berpasangan yang berlawanan. Julukan spesies myrtifolium berarti berdaun murad, mengacu pada daunnya yang menyerupai daun murad.
Asal: Asli ke timur laut India, Asia Tenggara termasuk Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapura, Sumatra, Kalimantan dan Filipina. Ini banyak dibudidayakan di tempat lain di seluruh dunia.
Jenis tanaman: Pohon atau semak hias dan abadi.
Fitur: Syzygium myrtifolium berasal dari genus Syzygium yang terdiri dari sekitar 1200-1800 spesies tanaman berbunga.
Pohon yang tumbuh sedang dan kuat dengan tajuk lebat lebat yang dapat mencapai tinggi 20 m dan menyebar selebar 3-5 cm.
Cara menanam - Ketika dibiarkan tumbuh dengan sendirinya, ia akan tumbuh menjadi pohon berbentuk kerucut atau vas yang indah setinggi 10 m. Beberapa batang muncul dari bagian bawah pohon, membentuk pohon berbatang banyak.
Pohon berkayu dan semak belukar akan ditumbuhi daun menawan berbentuk elips hingga lanset.
Daun cemara, berlawanan dan petiolate panjangnya sekitar 7,5 cm dan lebar 2,5 cm.
Daun muda muncul oranye-merah menjadi merah muda, berubah menjadi kuning, hijau pucat dan matang menjadi hijau mengkilap gelap.
Aroma daunnya mirip dengan kayu manis, oleh karena itu Kayu Manis Liar menjadi salah satu nama umumnya.
