Có lẽ không nhiều người sẽ để một mảnh giấy trị giá gần ba phần tư triệu đô la ngồi quanh nhà trong gần hai tuần. Tuy nhiên, John Nieblas nói rằng anh ta cần nhiều hơn một đôi mắt để giúp thuyết phục anh ta rằng đây không chỉ là một giấc mơ lớn! “Tôi không biết phải nghĩ gì. Vì vậy, tôi đã phải chờ đợi và để cả cháu trai và con trai tôi nhìn vào (chiếc vé chiến thắng XSMB CN hàng tuần minh ngọc) để nói với tôi rằng đó là sự thật. Và khi họ nói với tôi điều đó là sự thật, tôi đã nhảy lên và hét lên!” Nieblas nói, với một tiếng cười lớn.
Ai có thể trách anh! Người thợ sửa xe đã nghỉ hưu 63 tuổi chỉ mua một vé XSMB minh ngọc chủ nhật tham dự California Lucky for Life Scratchers của mình, và giờ anh ta nói có đủ tiền để mở cửa hàng sửa chữa của riêng mình và cuối cùng trở thành ông chủ. Cho đến ngày nay, điều đó vẫn khó tin.

Amie Shroyer vừa mới thực hiện nhiệm vụ trần tục điển hình là mua xăng vào tháng trước khi quyết định thử vận may với chiếc vé Riches Scratchers trị giá 500.000 USD . Quyết định đó đã được đền đáp xứng đáng cho sinh viên đại học cơ sở Lodi, khi cô giành được giải thưởng XSMB ngày chủ nhật cao nhất trị giá 500.000 đô la.
Shroyer có kế hoạch lớn cho tương lai của mình - “Tôi dự định sẽ đến trường nghệ thuật ở Nam California”, cô nói. Cô ấy không phải là người duy nhất ăn mừng, cha cô nói rằng ông rất vui vì chiến thắng của con gái mình vì nó sẽ trả tiền cho việc học thêm của cô.
Nói một cách khác Shroyer cũng may mắn. Shroyer và bạn bè của cô thường mua vé XSMB ngày chủ nhật cùng nhau và đôi khi trao đổi vé với nhau trước khi họ cào chúng. May mắn cho Shroyer, lần này cô chỉ có một mình khi mua vé. Quả là một may mắn đối với một cô gái trẻ ở thời điểm hiện tại phải lo toan nhiều thứ.
